Party of 1

So I was invited to attend a holiday party. I decided to bring a plus one. The day of the event came, and my plus one decided not show. I got upset, a little disappointed, and maybe just a little embarrassed. I decided not to go.

My best girlfriend came over and said “No, honey. You getting up, you going out, and you are going to have you a good time!” She helped me pick out something cute, sat out my shoes, purse, and makeup! She had to go, but said she would be calling in thirty mins to make sure I was out the door. So I got up, showered, and got dressed. I got in the car and cranked it up, and there she was calling. She continued to encourage me and uplift me, and love on me like real friends should. I went on to have an awesome night! Just me, party of 1.

What am I saying to you? Well first, I’m saying surround yourself with love. Not just physical intimacy, but in conversation and encouragement; with positivity and truth. This is how “a friend loveth at all times!”
Second, enjoy yourself as a party of you! You’re enough, all by yourself!! And I know some of us crave companionship, and we should-as we were made for love. But know that no one can love you better than you! You are, and should be, your number one fan!
If you are, or have been a party of one, enjoy your state of being. Singletude does not have to mean solitude! Be enjoyable all by yourself! Live a little, love immensely, but remember to laugh a lot!!
Know that for everything there is a season, and this may be your season to perfect you. Enjoy not being totally accountable, not always responsible, and just live in the freedom of being you! Enjoy the company of family, friends, and loved ones. The ones that encourage you, uplift you, and most of all- ones that will check you! 🙂

Until someone or something comes along, or until you ready to send out more invites, just enjoy being that party of 1! Enjoy being YOU!!
