Experience is the Best Teacher 👩🏾‍🏫
What if your resume included your Job experience rather than your job experience?
In today’s economy, everyone is seeking the next best thing-whether it be a job, career, a car, a home, or even the next employee! But unlike our predecessors, many of the assignments that require promotion also require experience.
I remember a time after college when I was seeking summer employment and I was turned away from McDonalds! The manager said they had chosen someone with more experience. And I thought to myself, “A college degree doesn’t qualify as experience?” To answer that question was refusal from several other companies refusing to hire me based on my “experience.” (or lack there of lol)
As I was seeking God about a similar situation recently, He brought to mind his humble servant Job. Job was “blameless and upright” in that he was a man of integrity who trusted in God as his redeemer (see Job 19:25), sincerely worshiped the Lord, loved his family, and was consistent in his walk with God. Despite Job’s status with God, he was tested beyond compare to show his unwavering faith, love, and loyalty to God. Job lost his wife, his children, his herd, his homes (yes plural), and most of his friends in the process of gaining his faith. But that experience gave Job all the qualifications necessary to perform the great work that God had put in him!
I ,too, had my own Job experience- I lost my job, my car, my house, my husband, and my best friend in one month’s time! And guess what? I survived and made it out on the other side!
You see, God knew that without that experience, I would never be qualified to live the life, nor to walk into the Purpose He has for me!How could I speak life into a torn down situation if I had never gone through? How could I show love to the broken heart if I had never known that type of pain? How could I minister to the torn down spirit if I have never been in that sunken place? Even in the physical, how could heal the minds of homeless children I teach every day if I never walked a day in their shoes?
God knew! There would be certain places, people, and careers that would turn me away for my inexperience, but my experience would always make me just right for the job He has for me!Make it personal to your situation- what does your Job experience qualify you for? It might not be for the area you think! Allow God to speak to your heart about where he is qualifying you to be!
