If you make it to the finish line….

We all have that one day out of the month where the majority of income is snatched away by household expenses-otherwise known as Bills, Bills, Bills! Well just the other day, as I made my way around to resolve my monthly debts, I became a little disheartened. Here I was in a salaried position in my dream job, and at the end of business day on payday, I was left with $30 to my name!

Every emotion of doubt flooded my mind- defeat, sadness, loss, confounded, beaten, and bound! Just as the tears began to fall, God spoke a word to me. My four year old daughter, Macariah, said to me- “Mommy, if you make to the finish line, then you will win!” As I fought back the tremble in my voice, I said “What was that, baby? What did you say?” “I said,” she repeated, “if you make it to the finish line you will win!” As a sudden peace began to flood my soul, I said “ where baby? Where is the finish line?” And she said, “Just ahead, Mommy! It’s right there, and if you cross it we will be victorious!”

Now, yes my daughter has an extensive vocabulary, but even God’s word says “Out of the mouths of babes and unweaned infants You have established strength because of Your foes, that You might silence the enemy and the avenger.”-Psalms 8:2. We must appreciate God’s humor, for even out of the mouth of our children can He bring forth a word of healing, encouragement, and peace.

I share this story to let you know this, no matter how difficult it seems or how hard it gets just know, “If you make it to the finish line, YOU WILL WIN!” He will make your enemies your footstools, he will turn your turmoil into triumph, and every defeat will lead you to victory! Whatever you do, just don’t give up. The finish line is just ahead!

  1. Amen! Just when we feel like we’re defeated or just cant make it, God let’s his presence known and it’s just enough to keep going one more day. So proud of you and the inspiration you bring to others.
